What a turnout and an amazing event at Woodlawn Farm! What an honor to have such incredible support from my team, my community, Congressman Steny Hoyer, and Senator Chris Van Hollen. Thank you to all of those who attended, our event hosts, contributors, and our special guests! It was an amazing and humbling night!

Fantastic day of celebration at Juneteenth! Thank you to the UCAC for their hard work in coordinating this community gathering to celebrate such an important day. I especially want to thank Mike Brown for his leadership.

Thank you to everyone that stopped by our photo booth to take a picture: 149 pictures taken! I met and saw so many great people throughout the day: Maureen from Hickory Hills, Cheryl from the gym, and Carter, a recent GMHS grad that is going to SMCM in the fall.

I want to thank the team: Sandie, Zoë, Wrenn, and Shawn. It was an all-out effort.

Lastly, thank you, our community, for allowing me to be a part of it! This journey continues to be humbling.

Go vote!!! It truly matters.

Thank you so much to incredible crowd who came out for our fundraiser tonight. We got there early enough to claim a perfect space, and Mission BBQ cooked up some amazing food, as always! Even this crazy weather held out for us! Stay tuned for the next event, and thank you, again, to everyone for all of your support.

Some more pictures from the Christmas in April event. It was a great time with so many awesome people from the community!

April 28, 2018

Christmas in April is the essence of what our community is all about— pitching in and working together. It was so great to get out and help with all the awesome people in the county who gave their time and energy today to help our community.

Special thanks to our next County Commissioner President, Howard Thompson, for organizing 850 volunteers. Also, the Booz Allen Hamilton family for all of our volunteers-- there must've been 50 of us out there.

Thank you Dr. Harkonen, for inviting me to speak to your Center for the Study of Democracy students today. Encouraging young people to participate in the democratic process is one of my missions!

The best part of the campaign is getting out and having the opportunity to meet the awesome people of our community!

Attending reception and Twain lecture with Tig Notaro at St. Mary’s College.  Great laughs— it is always nice to mix with members of the greater SMCM community!  Thanks, Ben Click and staff, for a great evening!

Honoring Sheriff Joe Lee Somerville, St. Mary's County and the State of Maryland's first African American Sheriff. Great Event!

January and February Events!

We hope your 2018 is off to a great start!

(Monday, January 15) Brian attended the 14th annual Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast at St. Mary’s College. We honored Dr. King for his courage, the freedom movement for which he was a beacon; and his message of freedom, equality, justice and love. The keynote speaker, Nandi Crosby-Jordan, focused on awareness of cultural differences and practicing Dr. King’s message daily.

(Monday, January 22) Brian attended a networking event in Annapolis and got to meet many of his future colleagues.

(Monday, February 2) Brian met with SMAWL and The Humane Society to discuss issues throughout the community involving animals. The conversation focused on several key issues involving shelter space, future plans and upcoming legislation.

(Tuesday, February 6) Brian attended the opening of the newly renovated Drayden African American Schoolhouse. Don Cropp’s hard work renovating the one-room school, was vital in maintaining one of the best preserved African American Schoolhouses in the country. We all owe Don and Christina a great deal of gratitude.

Brian also attended the Ridge and Valley Lee Fire Installation Dinners to honor the hard work of our volunteer fire fighters and EMS personnel. This small group of service members shoulders tens-of-thousands of calls each year in support of our community. You should take time to visit the facilities, and possibly even ride along, to see how much work these volunteers do throughout our community.

The Team has a campaign meeting coming up on February 21st to discuss the status of the campaign and our next steps. Daylight savings is quickly approaching, meaning campaign season is almost in full swing. We are planning several door-knocking Saturdays, phone banks and fundraising events.
